Diets that exclude certain foods
There are diets that exclude certain food groups - for example, carbohydrates or fats - or only allow certain combinations of foods. The disadvantage of these diets is that it requires a great deal of discipline not to be allowed to eat rice, pasta or bread year in year out or to only be allowed to eat lean products. In addition, prohibited fruits taste the best, so there is a danger that you will crave them, and as soon as you start eating these foods again you will arrive. Diets that limit calories Other diets prescribe that you can eat a maximum number of calories per day. You also need a strong discipline for these diets. Can you continue to eat a maximum of 1500 calories per day, year after year, or do you experience it as 'biting the ball' after a while and will you be disappointed? Intuitive food What is meant by intuitive food Intuitive eating was invented in the 90s by American dietitians. In England, intuitive eating is advocated in 2018 by two nutritionists (Dr. Laura Tomas and Pixie Turner) and two dietitians (Helen West and Rosie Saunt). They fight against the idea that our bodies are imperfect, and that diets are the solution to resolve our imperfections. In their opinion, diets are certainly not a solution because you usually return to your old weight, eat binge, get obsessed with food or exercise compulsively. Literally means intuitive food that you do not think about what you eat, but your feeling follows. However, there is more to it. Even though intuitive eating does not have eating schedules or eating regulations, it is not a license to eat everything without limits; a healthy relationship with food is advocated. This way of eating is healthy because there are no forbidden foods, and you still eat a varied and balanced diet. Why intuitive food works The advocates of intuitive eating state that it gives a more lasting result than lines because you also tackle your thoughts and feelings. They therefore emphasize the importance of being kind and good to yourself and applying mindfulness to learn to listen better to your body.
